The Community App doesn't need to be installed, but for convenience, users can save the Community App to their home screen for easy access - think of it like a bookmark.
The method to do this differs by device manufacturer, but this article will help provide some guidance, to how it's done.

Pro Tip: You can create a Custom Page in the Community App to provide instructions for users, about how to save the app to their home screens. You will find the required HTML content at the bottom of this page.
Most modern versions detect the application and automatically prompt users to save it to their home screen, when landing on the Community App for the first time.
If the prompt is not seen, or it's dismissed, and users would still like to Add to Home Screen, there is an Add App to Home Screen option in most browser menus.
iOS Install to Home Screen Prompts
Apple are yet to add auto detection of applications to iOS. So iOS. Users are able to Add to Home Screen, but can do this simply, in as few as 2-3 taps. Currently this is only supported by the Safari browser in iOS - Chrome and other browsers are not supported.
We are closely monitoring Apple updates for iOS and we will implement a more streamlined installation workflow as soon as Apple make it available.
In the meantime, the Community App has a built in prompt to remind users to install the app to their home screen.
Jomablue Community App supports auto detection of iOS users and their browser and will present a popup to encourage adding the Community App to their home screen.
Here is how to do it using Safari:
Select the Share Icon
Select Add to Home Screen
Here is the workflow of the functionality:
When the prompt will and will not appear
- Prompt does not appear when app is in standalone mode ("added to home screen")
- The prompt appears after a 2 second delay
- The prompt disappears after 10 second delay for that session
- The prompt disappears after any click on screen for that session
- The prompt will reappear if opened in a new tab
- Pressing "x" on the prompt will hide the prompt forever
- The prompt wont display if the event app is already saved to home screen
Add a Custom Page to help users Save to Home Screen
The following HTML code can be used in a Custom Page within the Community App. This page can provides users with instructions on how to save the Community App to their home page.
Paste the following into the content field of Custom Pages.
